Award of Qualification

To achieve an award of CPC40110 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), a total of 16 units must be completed. This includes all thirteen (13) Core Units and three (3) Elective Units.

Program Duration

With 6-­12 months Industry experience:
Induction and Introduction to Course (4 hour)

  1. Building Regulations (3 wks)
  2. Project Scope and Plan (7 wks)
  3. Quantities, Estimating and Tendering (3 wks)
  4. Construction Project Management (2 wks)
  5. Contracts and Financial Management (3 wks)
  6. Best Practices – Integrated Quality, Risk, WHS & Compliance (5 wks)
  7. Sustainability & Environmental Management (1 wk)

OR

Up to 12 months with no Industry experience:
Induction and Introduction to Course (4 hours)

CPCCBC4003A – Select and prepare a construction contract
CPCCBC4004A – Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects
CPCCBC4010B – Apply structural principles to residential low rise constructions
BSBSMB406 – Manage small business finances
CPCCBC4002A – Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace
CPCCBC4005A – Produce labour and material schedules for ordering
CPCCBC4006B – Select, procure and store construction materials for low rise projects
CPCCBC4007A – Plan building or construction work
CPCCBC4008B – Conduct on-site supervision of building and construction projects
CPCCBC4009B – Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects
CPCCBC4012B – Read and interpret plans and specifications
CPCCBC4011B – Apply structural principles to commercial low rise constructions

This qualification ‘CPC40110 ­ Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)’ has no formal prerequisites for entry and is open to anyone interested in pursuing or enhancing a career in the Building Industry.
Prospective learners will be required to go through a formal face to face Interview with one of our qualified Trainers and Assessors to establish whether the desired course is the correct qualification for their career path/job prospects. Course Information

The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry. Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Additional units of competency may be required to meet builder registration requirements in various States and Territories.
